Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 is a full version action-adventure game that continues the story of Gabriel Belmont, also known as Dracula, through medieval and modern environments. The game features an open-world structure, allowing players to explore and discover secrets. The combat system is based on combos with various swords and claws, some allowing the protagonist to replenish his health and others dealing massive damage to enemies.

The game is highly story-driven and starts with flashbacks of Dracula's transformation. The story is set in medieval times but quickly shifts to modern times where Dracula embarks on his adventures. The game has DLCs, with Revelations as the only one that adds a new story arc, while the others, "Dark Dracula" and "Armored Dracula," only introduce new character skins and sprites.
